Scorchers

Scorchers are pull back motored Hot Wheels with metal chassis and plastic bases, along with rubber rimmed tires that provided traction. They came out in two series, with the second series cars MUCH harder to find. Also there were a couple supporting sets.
As a series, this group was more for kids and was not a line that was in the hands of adult collectors, so while they are not terribly hard to find, they are hard to find in good condition. The car to the left is a much harder to find casting. A version of the 55 Chevy is among the more valuable castings as it is pursued by a lot of collectors and was very short in production. The name of the car did not appear on the base, so you can only find it on the packaging. The names below are correct based on pictures of packaged cars found on eBay over the last couple years, except for the Camaro Z-28's and the red El Camino, not sure yet what they were officially called. A personal semi-grail piece is getting the two versions of the Porsche 928 into the hoard.... |
